TIM'S LOL BLOG

I’ve come to see my blog title as kind of ironic; this is as “heavy” as the introspective melancholy gets, but that in itself is lol-worthy.

(if you want).
The first time I read this through I was like, yeah…seems legit. That sounds like a good life. I read it through a second time, though, and counted the times (11) that I would prefer to do all that stuff with that one person who you know, at the end of the day, would travel with you and meet interesting people with you and learn new stuff with you and hook up with you and never think you were a slut and always put you first (unless you decided to put me first once in a while, you know, like how a good, mutual relationship works) and go to rock concerts with you and make EPIC sandwiches with you and go apartment and shoe shopping with you. To do all that with someone who would never cheat on you. Someone who you could be the cool auntie and uncle with you and all your friends would think you were fucking cool as hell and hey, if you really wanted we could make tons of money together, but I think we’d have figured out by then that money means nothing and that if I had all the above with you and you with me, we wouldn’t need much else.
Marriage shouldn’t be about women doing stuff or being stuck in a relationship where the guy cheats or where she can’t have the career she wants. What it should be about is sharing a life with someone who you know will share it back with you, through the highs and lows, the weight fluctuations and the herpes and the fricking amazing trip to Europe you’ll probably share once the kids are out of home (which mightn’t be what you wanted it to be when you were 20 because you can’t party all night because of your bad hip but it’ll be what you want it to be now, cuddling in bed and smiling at the face of the person who stuck through life with you).
I think that’s marriage - or what it should be, at least.
